Thank God that part's over! I can't believe it went so well. I was actually out of there and home by 3:30. Crazy or what! That's with a stop at Tim Horton's on the way home.
I'm thinking they gave me a bit too much of the wake-up juice because I have not been sleepy at all. I'm not kidding. My sister brought me home (after the stop at Tim Horton's for a bagel and soup.) and I could just tell she was sitting there waiting for me to fall asleep. But it wasn't happening. I was wide awake. I had taken my Advil and then taken my Vicodin and not a single solitary yawn.
Since we didn't really have any food in the house - Sandy said let's go to Pando's. I said sure and that I really needed to get a sports bra since I never could find a good one and I'm going to have to wear them 24 hours a day for a week. (I can't tell you how hard it is to find one that doesn't have scratchy edges.)
Off to shop we go. I'm kind of amazed that I'm feeling ok but I wasn't woozy - I wasn't dizzy and I wasn't tired. What else do you do after breast surgery - GO SHOPPING!!!! We hit up Gander Mountain (no bras but I got some summer clothes), Target - some halfway ok sports bras - 2 for $8. My kinda price. the only problem is I have to pull them on. The don't have any latches which was a bummer but I'm okay with it for $4 each. ;)
Oh and did I mention that we then went to Abbot's? Yum I got a sundae. I'm telling you I can't believe how much I ate. It was like that no eating after 8pm the day before or drinking after midnight just set me up for a feast. Everything tasted sooooo good. Even water.
But here it is the next day and the pain comes and goes. As long as I keep up with the pain meds and the frozen pea packs it's not too bad. I'm still feeling pretty perky though. What's up with that? I was planning on some serious sleeping......
I'm almost on my way. No deodorant, no lotion, nothing to eat or drink. Ack! This may almost be the worst part. Ha - I'm hoping right. ;) Anyhoo The wire placement is at ten and then the surgery at 12:30. The surgeon said it would take about and hour to hour and fifteen minutes so I'm thinking by three I should be home in bed with good drugs. Oh wait that's right - we're talking medical here. I almost forgot about all the waiting around in ackward poses and with my left bob hanging out I'm going to have to do. Ok maybe 3:30. A girl can dream right?
See you.
Okay - I will not be quiting my day job to get a job in computer graphics. It took me all night to remove the writing in the above card and put in cancer bites. Somehow in the process I cropped the little doggy head. Oy.
I did get some exciting news though. I have a date for the surgery. It is scheduled for Friday 6/27. The surgeon had a cancellation so I got in earlier. I have an appointment on Monday to go over the details of the surgery with the Nurse Practitioner. I also have to have pre-op tests at Park Ridge that day. Wednesday I have an appointment with Pluta Cancer Center about radiation and then the surgery Friday.. Yikes is all I can say.
I think the timing will be good. It's not so far away that I have more time to think up problems but not so quick that I don't have time to let everything sink in.
I'm wringing my hands in anticipation. (Okay, mine aren't as cute as these but I needed a visual.) Tomorrow I will be meeting with the surgeon. Breasts or no breasts - that is the question.........
PS: Dave, I will not ask the surgeon to participate in your new web venture "Stuff on Patients." Just so you know.
I know, I know - I may not lose my hair but it's a lot more fun to think of interesting options if I do than to think about surgery and all the crappy painful parts of cancer. I spent some time looking at wigs but I think that I may have to get back to my heritage and get my babushka on. I haven't decided if I'm going to get completely real and whip out with some baggy hose and a buttoned down dress. Like I said I'm checking into my options.....
on Whew! Still have most of my Lymph Nodes....
